Dates

The workshop will be held on 14-16 November 2012.
Exact time schedules of scientific sessions, tutorials and social activities are now available. See the Scientific Programme.
We plan to run the main sessions of the workshop from the early afternoon of Wednesday 14 to the late morning of Friday 16. Tutorials will be given on Wednesday morning.

Location

The workshop will be located at Conference Room (AM2) of the Como campus of Politecnico di Milano. The campus is located at walking distance from the city center. The full address of the venue is:

Politecnico di Milano, Polo Regionale di Como
Via Castelnuovo, 7
22100 COMO
Italy

From the city center you can reach the Campus on foot, by bus or by train. If your hotel is close to the lake, you can take the train at Ferrovie Nord Station ( Como Lago station) and drop off at the next station ( Como Borghi - Università station).

If you come on foot from the city center, this should take no more than 15-minutes. If you follow the train link on the interactive map below, you can see the other train stations of Como.

The direct train takes forty six minutes, while a change at Chiasso adds another five or six minutes.
By Train

The Servizio Ferroviario Regionale connects Como by train to other major cities in Lombardy (R lines). Services are provided by Trenitalia (a.k.a. Ferrovie dello Stato: FS) ( website ) and LeNORD ( website , timetables ) through two main stations: Como S. Giovanni (Trenitalia) and Como Lago (LeNORD). There is another urban station served by Trenitalia (Albate) and three more urban stations served by LeNORD (Como Borghi-Università, Como Camerlata and Grandate Breccia). A trip to Milan costs 4.55€.

Como Borghi-Università station is the nearest station to the venue. In the above Google map, see the path from the Como Borghi-Università LeNORD Railway Station and the city center to the Conference location.

By Car

The E35 motorway (toll costs 3.50 , 1.50 for the A4/A9 section, about 2.00 for the E35 section west of Milan) runs past Como from Milan, and goes on into Switzerland. There are many exits to Como; avoid Como South, choose the next ones (signed Como Nord and Monte Olimpino) for the city, and the last exit (signed ultima uscita per l'Italia ) before Switzerland for Cernobbio, Bellagio and for towns on the western lake shore.
